It has come to our attention that some faulty information has been
circulating the Internet concerning the budget of this film. Some
reputable movie news sites have estimated the budget of "The Scam
Artist" at half a million U.S. dollars. Boy, do we WISH we had that kind
of money to work with! The unfortunate truth is, we didn't. Because we
believe in the right of our customers to make informed decisions about
any product, we do not want these inaccurate statements to create
inappropriate expectations of the film. The truth of it is, "The Scam
Artist" is an ultra-low budget independent feature film, made by a
dedicated team who were determined to get their film made even if they
had nothing to work with but a camera. This entire sci-fi character
drama was shot with LESS THAN ONE TENTH THE PRODUCTION BUDGET OF "THE
BLAIR WITCH PROJECT", as estimated by the Internet Movie Database. Now,
that's a far cry from half a million dollars! It is our belief that
working with such economic restraints fueled the creativity and passion
of everyone involved. "The Scam Artist" was a movie made for the pure
love of making a movie, and getting it made was a minor miracle. Thank
you to all the fans of "The Scam Artist" for your continued support.
As promised, the Scam Artist DVD is now shipping to customers. Unfortunately, for the pre-order customers who will receive an autographed copy, there will be a delay in shipment as the DVDs have to be signed first!

THE DV AWARDS RECOGNIZE "THE SCAM ARTIST"
"The Scam Artist" was recently ranked among the best digital video productions in the world by the Fall 2003 DV Awards. The production won in the category of Best Long Format Drama, and was an Outstanding Achievement in Videography finalist.
The DV Awards is a new and unique international competition celebrating outstanding creative and technical achievements in the emerging world of digital video production.
Competing with hundreds of talented individuals from around the world, entries were judged by industry professionals. All works were graded on creativity, technical merit and execution of ideas based on their own merits within the standards of their respective category.
Categories representing independent films, commercials, corporate communications and industrial videos to 3D animation, special effects and event videography, were among the entries.
"With the advent and increasing affordability of digital video, a rising number of outstanding productions are created at small desktop studios, manned by a growing number of creative individuals," said Martin Rhodes, DV Awards founder and president. "The DV Awards was created because these talented individuals deserve to be recognized for their work." Rhodes said.
"With each competition, we are seeing more and more entries that are truly impressive and worthy of the merit of this peer recognition. Our judges feel many of these works are as professionally done and often more creative than those works of substantially larger budgeted film and television companies."
DV Awards is based in Park City, Utah. For more information about the DV Awards, and for a complete list of winners go to:
